Try a reset of the Fusion to see if that helps if not you may have a bad hard drive or problems with the main board.

Also check your PSU (power supply)

Reset didn't solve the problem, would replacing the Hard Drive be expensive/difficult if it is that?

Hi simochef,

You don't say if your HD is 40 or 80Gb . . . . .

If it's 40Gb, it's likely to be earlier model.

Sadly, HDs don't last forever, and the additional problem these days is sourcing another 40 or 80Gb Drive . .

It's tiny, by today's standards, + it's PATA (NOT SATA . . .)

My best advice would be to upgrade to an SSD. I checked last week and these are available on ebay . . .

I wrote a document describing how to do this.

You also need to check your PSU when you open your Fusion to check the hard drive to determine if one or both are defective if they both check out good then you may have a bad PCB, possibly the main PCB.

The PSU and hard Drive are both easy to replace once the Fusion is opened - take Care and go slow and easy when opening the Fusion
