I have confirmed it with Instrumental Parts that the above listed parts are shared between the Alesis Fusion & the Akai MPC5000.
The only difference is the part number and higher cost for the Akai parts.

Thanks for your efforts in getting that confirmation - Jesse - at least we have an avenue now in case of disaster . . .

As far as pricing goes - If I was a violinist - I would say that is really taking the pizz

Great News! I just called Akai Parts at 401-658-3131 ext 1407 to see if they had any PSU's for the MPC5000, he asked if I was sure that was the right part number, I said it's the same PSU that is in the Fusion, he said okay sounds like we have the right part. $98 dollars each +S&H, I ordered two. Part number SPSHA33R4-058N

This is the new version PSU, it's the same for the Alesis Fusion & Akai MPC5000.

When they arrive I will take a few pictures for reference and check all the voltage outputs for future reference and post the info here

That's excellent news jesse!

Perhaps someone should ask the same question here in the UK - then we can all rest secure . . .

For a while at least :D

Based on a previous thread on the FusionClub

http://fusioneer.proboards.com/index.cg ... 247&page=1
I spoke to Alesis UK who gave me a part number. I confirmed it with Justin.

He's a bit tied up first thing back after the weekend and a shedload of email to wade through so he's has asked me to tell you that the part number is : 9-79-0361

According to AUK, the price is £37.50 if the fault is out of warranty but speak nicely to them - they may be agreeable to waiving that. No guarantees on that though.

Over to you.

Steve
I believe this is the new improved PSU, at least it has the same part number 9-79-0361

The price from akai Pro is $98 + S&H

Alesis Fusion & MPC5000 SPSHA33R4-058N PSU Voltage Outputs
Call Akai Parts at 401-658-3131 ext 1407 for current availabilty

Better make that a 8 pin connector instead of a 7 pin connector
since the PSU won't be physically grounded to the Alesis Fusion keyboard!

Alesis Fusion affectionately known as "The Beast"

As of 5-19-2017

Instrument parts has the new PSU part # 9-79-0361 listed at $145 - If you need a replacement or want a spare PSU you better get now while they are still available! There are only 6 left and they are discontinued

The new PSU part # 9-79-0361 for the Alesis Fusion & MPC5000 is no longer available from INMUSIC

Maybe Brian at Sector 101 can make a PSU for the Alesis Fusion & Akai MPC5000 :)

I checked with Brian and making a PSU for the Fusion is unfortunately not in his area of expertise :(

But the memory modules he makes for the Fusion & Akai MPC5000 are a real plus for Fusion & MPC5000 owners :)

Following your "PSU unavailable" scare above . . . .

I sought out InMusic here in the UK today . . . [InMusic Brands (Europe) Tel. 01252-896-040]

The phone was answered directly by a Human 8) (I forgot to note his name)

I explained that the part - (Alesis Part no. 9-79-0361) and (Akai Part no. SPSHA33R4-058N) are for

the SAME PSU which is common to the Alesis Fusion (6HD and 8HD) AND the Akai MPC5000 . . .

(A number of other parts ARE common too)

He confirmed the commonality AND the fact that they had stock -

so I ordered a "spare" for both my Fusions . . . (They are "on the shelf" until they are required)

With carriage and VAT they will be £80.03 Each - which is amazing - considering I've seen

prices Stateside of $145 - $175 for ONE, probably plus shipping.

So I HAVE to report - excellent response and Service, here in the UK . . . . 8)

NONE of that "Press one for a ten minute wait - press two to hear a list of ALL the products

you're NOT interested in" CRAP . .

The PSU has been a problem area for the Fusion - especially the 6HD - together with reports

of hot running, often leading to failure . . .

The SSD upgrade does alleviate this significantly by lower power consumption and less heat produced . .

So best advice is to put one by JUST IN CASE . . . .

I mentioned the apparent shortage at InMusic USA - and he claimed that spares are common

across their three Primary MAIN Offices - So I don't know WHAT is going on . . .

Thanks Chris, I hope your info is more accurate than mine :)

Maybe the state side inventory is low, I need to find out what the H is going on!

As I remember, you already have acquired spare PSU(s) - but if that situation remains - could be VERY annoying for USA users . . .

IIRC the guy I spoke to said there was no problem with supply - they had some in stock and more could be obtained . . . .?
