QS8.1 Can't Send or Receive MIDI

Hi,

I'm a totally newbie to Aleasis-land. I scored a gorgeous QS8.1 and I'm blown away by the keyboard. What a MIDI controller this will make! If...

I can't get it to show up in Apple Logic Pro. I have two ways to connect it: 1 USB-A to MIDI cable, and 1 USB-C to MIDI Cable. I have a Behringer Motor 61 MIDI controller and with that, a USB to USB cable. The Motor 61 connects instantly and perfectly via USB and MIDI.

The User Guide is among the poor ones I've used. Very thorough, yes, but all up on the head, attempting to teach when all I want is how to do. I'm tired, so I could be missing stuff, but I've spent hours on this with cable and MIDI connections the Behringer acts as if were made for it. The Alesis, nothing. I'm a bit cross-eyed trying to follow the manual. I've reset the Alesis several times. Once, I saw a few lines of data in a MIDI monitor. I should have screen captured it. Like I said, tired. I've changed the Keyboard output settings and put the keyboard on NORMAL, OFF, and SOLO. I've turned MIDI General on and off, both ways, nothing. What am I missing?

Is the Alesis QSA8.1 either difficult or impossible to serve as a controller for soft synths in Apple Logic?
