Alesis VI49 on macOS

Post by asddvasdasd »

Hello! I planned to buy Alesis VI49 to work with logic but right before ordering it saw that: https://support.alesis.com/en/support/s ... patibility
as far as I know this keyboard is class compliant (chat bot said me so) so what does "not supported" really mean (and why same Vi model but with different count of keys marked as supported)? If I understand it right class compliant devices do not really need support from manufacturer as they use the same driver apple provides on all devices. Does it mean that I will only lack some software for setting up the controller? And if so will I be able to set it up on some device that supports all that software and then use it already set up on my macbook? And if I will have limitations then what limitations exactly?

I think what they mean is that the additional Alesis software is not yet supported. Class compliant means it should plug in and be recognised as a basic MIDI controller. However, if there are features specific to that keyboard that require drivers etc, some may not work as expected or at all.
