Alesis Nitro Mesh Max HiHat trouble with software

Post by bruspru »

Hey all,

I'm having some trouble with this Alesis Nitro Mesh Max I recently got for my lesson studio. When using software such as SSD5 or GetGood Drums, the hi hat pedal doesn't seem to be responding properly. It's giving signal to my DAW but pressing the pedal down does not give a HH "chick" or closing sound. Although does provide proper HH function other, open and closed sounds work with the pedal up and down as expected. By comparison, I plugged in my Roland TD-27KV2 and it works perfectly fine.

I know the Nitro is a budget kit, but is there any solutions or workarounds folks have found for this? My DAW is Reaper if that's relevant.

If you bought it recently and it is new I would contact whom ever you bought it from about a replacement or a fix while it is still under warranty, if it is.

If your Alesis Nitro Mesh Max HiHat is experiencing issues with the software, it could be due to a number of reasons including incorrect settings within the drum module, firmware updates needed, faulty cable connections, or even a potential hardware malfunction with the HiHat pedal itself; check your connections, update the firmware on your module, and carefully review your HiHat settings within the software to troubleshoot the problem.
Troubleshooting Steps:
Check Connections:
Ensure the HiHat pedal is securely plugged into the correct input on the drum module.
Verify that the cable is not damaged and the connection is tight.
Software Settings:
HiHat Sensitivity: Adjust the sensitivity setting on the drum module to match your playing style. Too low sensitivity might not register light foot taps, while too high could trigger unintended hits.
Open/Closed Detection: Double-check the settings for open and closed HiHat detection to ensure the module accurately interprets your pedal movement.
Velocity Curve: Experiment with the velocity curve to fine-tune how your pedal strikes translate to sound volume.
Firmware Update:
Check the Alesis website for the latest firmware update for your drum module and install it if necessary. Updated firmware can often resolve compatibility issues and fix bugs.
Calibration:
Some drum modules allow you to calibrate the HiHat pedal to ensure accurate response. Consult your module's manual for specific calibration instructions.
Hardware Check:
If the issue persists, inspect the HiHat pedal for any visible damage, loose parts, or signs of wear and tear.
Try using a different HiHat pedal to see if the problem is isolated to the pedal itself.
Do you have any specific issues you are experiencing with the Alesis Nitro Mesh Max HiHat and its software?
Important Note: If you are unable to resolve the issue after trying these troubleshooting steps, consider contacting Alesis customer support for further assistance.
