Sequencer / Arpeggiator Step Entry mode?

Post by 2ManyKeys »

I really thought the Fusion provided step entry note input for the sequencer and arpeggiator but I couldn't find any reference to it yesterday on the machine or in the manuals.

Sure you can edit the event list but that's not the same as automated step entry.

Maybe I just assumed it because most hardware sequencers have some form of step entry.

Not a huge deal, I can play but sometimes for a simple arp step-entry is handy.

Does the Fusion have it?

No. I found a post from 2006 here, where some of the first Fusioneers discovered that like you and I can see, there is only "event editing" which is like trying to create music with a boxful of broken instrument parts. Even if you can figure out how to put everything together, by the time I figure out each event and how to edit it and store it, I forgot what I was doing in the first place. it's very counter-intuitive IMO if you are used to actually playing a musical instrument-or singing-or even if you aren't-rather like creating a weasel fart with 1000+ lines (roughly) of binary code-don't laugh i remember back when someone demonstrated how they did this with an early Apple Macintosh.

Oh well. They probably would have added it eventually. :D

As far as I know - step input is not possible in the way you mean . . . .

I quickly stopped attempting to edit midi on the Fusion . . . . . Yes, most things are possible if you have the endurance,

but any operation (cut/paste/move etc.) requires you to define to TICK accuracy, the start and end of the operation . . .

This is MUCH quicker in a DAW - which is why I gave up doing it inside the Fusion . . . .
