Post by simochef »

How easy is it to build new drum programmes in the Fusion , what are the steps for this . Also how do you create a drum fill in song mode or is it easier to do fills in the arpegiattor , and lastly how do you assign a knob in song mode to modulate lfo speed .thanks

Arp Drum Pattern Questions
Post by minstrel » Wed Jul 04, 2007 2:25 pm

This reply has the steps that effectively allow you to use the Arp patterns and have them "start" as soon as you press play.

Note: Make sure the 'Arp Num' is not set to "none" on the "Track” screen and "Enabled" is not set to "off" on the Arp Screen so you may audition your patterns to determine which one you want to use.

1. Select "Arp" soft button on the Song Edit Screen. (Visit note above)

2. Select the Arp pattern you like by performing the following:

a. Where you see Pattern: default, select "Drum Patterns"  Highlight the word "Default" and press the increment (Inc) button or turn the scroll wheel until “Pattern:” displays “Drum Patterns”

b. Press the “next” button until Pattern select is highlighted. Mine initially showed A-1 (000).

c. Press the increment button until you see the pattern you want to use. They appear to be in Alphabetical order.

d. After you have your pattern selected, press the “Proc Pat” (process pattern) soft button. You will notice the screen displays check boxes next to an “A”, “af”, “B”, “bf”. These, of course, are the variations and fills for the pattern. Select the check box of the variation your want to place on your track first.

e. Press Process

f. Change the process to “Copy”.

Configure the range you would like to copy, if you have not already done this. More than likely, you will choose the entire range. The patterns are usually one to four bars in length.

g. Press Execute.

h. Screen will display region copied. Press ok.

3. Press the “Editor” soft button. Now you are at the track level of editing. Select the track you want to process. Since we are copying a drum track, it should be the track you have selected drums as the instrument.

a. Press process

b. Change the process function to a “Paste …” function.

c. Select the entry point (Edit Start) for this portion of the pattern.

d. Configure the number of repetitions

e. Press the “execute” soft button.
Press play. Your drums will sound for the duration you have pasted. From here you repeat the process for fills, change in variations and such. Getting the way you want it and placing the variations where you like will only require you to do the math. This method will allow you to use other Arp patterns in different points in your song. I suspect there is another way to do this, but this is the one I have used so far.
