Thanks Chris
"Alesis"
"Fusion 6HD (61): Fatar TP / 9S, weighted " I guess 9S is the weight of the 6HD Synth Action
"Fusion 8HD (88): Fatar TP / 40 " I guess 40 is the weight of the 8HD weighted Action

My old Alesis parts numbers
Part Number 7-10-0022 for Keybed Assembly - Fusion 6HD
Part Number 7-10-0110 for Keybed Assembly - Fusion 8HD - 1st Version
Part Number AL7-10-0131  for Keybed Assembly - Fusion 8HD - 2nd Version

I requested information from Instrumental Parts about replacement Keys, hopefully I will get some useful information from them.

Yeah Jesse - I was a bit surprised to see "weighted" referring to the 6HD . . .

There again, I'm sure I've seen it referred to as a semi-weighted keybed.

I find it good to play, and find I can adapt quite well from the 8HD . . . .

Fatar make a HUGE range of keybeds and the site is quite confusing there are so many . . . .

The 8HD bed is listed under Pianos rather than Synths. Several variants are mentioned.

I've never looked to see if the keybed in the 8HD is actually MARKED with "What it is" . . . .

If buying new keys, it is VERY important to KNOW which is the right keybed . . . .

Sadly the Fatar site does NOT say which boards use which keybeds - and they MUST KNOW?

After some searching I found these links:

https://www.keyboardkountry.com/replace ... il-k-2000/ for the 6HD

https://syntaur.com/keys.php?key=K03W for the 6HD

https://syntaur.com/keys.php?key=K43U for the 8HD

I saw those, they seem to have a limited type of used keys.

Instrumental Parts says they have the keys, but they want $17 per key, sounds a bit steep to me.

They say they just need to know which note you need a key for.

This site has some useful information as well and claims to have new & used keyboard parts

I find the Fatar Site somewhat disappointing . . . . in some ways.

http://www.fatar.com/Pages/TP_40WOOD.htm

Sure the info is there on the many types available and their variants, but it would be handy to know

FROM THEM, Which keybed is in which instrument . . . .

There IS a contact form that can be filled in . . . . perhaps they could be asked about replacement keys?

If you fish around in there - there is some interesting stuff about the company and it's methods and history.

I have sent the following information to FATAR in hopes of receiving some useful information and possible parts source.

I am an amateur musician, I am the administrator for two forums that support the Alesis Fusion 8HD and 6HD, The FusionZone and The Fusion Club.

I am looking for information on the FATAR key beds used in these two workstations.

These digital workstations were produced between 2005 and 2008.

I am also looking for a source for replacement keys and other renewable parts for these FATAR keybeds.

There is one version used in the 61 key Fusion 6HD two versions used in the 88 key 8HD.

That's a well-composed request Jesse . . . let's hope it gets the response it deserves

The "66 key" is a typo . . . . I know you know the 6HD is 61 keys . . .

Yeah, I was in a bit of a hurry trying to get ready for Hurricane Dorian :(

Unfortunately it has picked up a little strength and looks like it will be a little too close to land here in Wilmington, NC for me !

I edited the 66 key to read 61 key

My first email attempt to reach FATAR was returned to me as undeliverable so I have tried one more time with this message;

I am looking for a source for replacement keys and other renewable parts for the FATAR keybeds used in the Alesis Fusion 6HD 61 key Workstation
and the two versions used in the Alesis Fusion 8HD 88 key Workstation produced between 2005 and 2008.

I am also mailing a letter to them.

Let's hope for the best :)

That sort of response is really shameful IMO . . . .

Fatar make quality keybeds, as is borne out by the number of boards that USE them . . .

I will NEVER understand companies putting up barriers to making money . . . .

Perhaps this is WHY Yamaha decided to make their own keybeds?

I hope they come to their senses. Users MUST be able to buy spares EASILY to repair their boards . . .

Today I mailed a letter to FATAR in Italy, I can't believe it only cost $1.15 to mail it from Wilmington, NC USA to Italy.

Now I play the waiting game and hope for the best. :)

FATAR received my letter the other day and emailed me.

Unfortunately there is no support from FATAR.

Your best option for parts other than buying new parts if available for the 6HD & 8HD is to look for a used non working or lightly damaged model for parts :(

“Hi Jesse,

How are you?
We just got your letter today. Thanks for sending it over!

I’m sorry to say that the keyboard assembled in the Alesis is no longer in production, and keys or hammers are no more available.

I remain at your disposal.
Thanks, best regards.

“Thank you for letting me know.

What about the rubber electrical contact pads under the keys are they available?

One more thing, are the keys on the Alesis Fusion 6HD and 8HD interchangeable? Thanks ... Jesse”

“Hi Jesse,

unfortunately the contact rubber is not anymore available.

About the keyboard model assembled on Alesis Fusion 6HD and 8HD, we actually don’t know, as we not always know which Fatar keybed goes to which model.
Moreover this was many many years ago. You could ask this to Alesis.

Best regards.”

All in all, that's rather disappointing.

It would help, if manufacturers used Part numbers - and everybody USED them to identify items.

Asking Alesis (InMusic?) is probably a non starter as they compound the problem by allocating THEIR OWN Part Numbers,

instead of simply saying "Fatar part no nnnnnn".

IME, the Rubbers seem to exist in "families" that are probably tied to particular keybeds?

If we KNEW how this worked - it might be possible to source a different strip of rubbers that was "The same under the skin".

There seem to be hundreds of rubbers out there, all looking superficially the same . . . .

It is for sure A SHAME that the longevity of our boards is compromised by this slipshod attention to detail .. .

Your suggestion of a "for Parts - or Not Working" board for spares is probably best . . . . . :D
