I finally bought a 64gb pata ssd (kingspec) and tried installing it. The fusion sometimes recognize the drive (show 60gb in disk info) but gives an error when I try to format and sometimes doesn't recognize. I'm using a lgh-ide-k adapter to convert the pins. Any tips?

See if you can format the PATA drive with your computer if so the problem is likely the Fusion or most likely your lgh-ide-k adapter :)

I can't format the pata drive in my computer as it doesn't have a pata connector. I'll order another adapter from a different supplier as I think this one may be damaged. Tks

Sorry to hear you are having problems . . . . . That's a bummer . . .

I can't really vouch for adapters other than the one I mention in my guide . . . .

The problem is that we are stuck with the disk controller they went with in the Fusion.

If that adapter is not compatible in some way, then it won't work . . . .

It really NEEDS to work, as you NEED to format the Drive IN the Fusion . . .

The format utility does more than simply format. It also writes other folders to the drive, that the

Fusion needs in order to work properly . . .

I'm not saying other adapters won't work, but if they have made alterations to them, the Fusion might

not understand those alterations and will refuse to "Play" . . . .

I would guess that if the Fusion can SEE the drive and format it - then THAT adapter is good . . . 8)

Glad you got it working finally Drummond . . . . :D

It's a reminder that the Fusion is what it is (set in stone, so to speak) - so additions require some thought if they are to work

So now you have a quieter and possibly cooler Fusion

64Gb is masses of Space . . . .

I wonder if anyone has tried a HD-recording "Feste" of any size to see how SSD fares?

Interesting Times . . . .

The ssd is working fine in my fusion but I didn't find a way to make the adaptor not move when I transport the keyboard. I have screwed the ssd to a hd plate and this is screwed to the bottom of the synth, so the ssd is fine. But what should I do to keep the adapter and cable in place? Also it seems that the cooler that sits to the left of the ssd is making some noise, probably a wire or something in front of it when the synth is closed

It's just a cheap computer type fan, the bearing and/or motor may be shot requiring to replace the fan.

You will notice that hot glue is used to tack down a lot of things on circuit boards, wires, connectors, etc ... this may work for you.

Maybe even good ol duct tape :)

Make sure the surfaces to be glued are clean prior to gluing.
