Re: PSU MOD

Here is another resource I have successfully used to restore a few faulty circuits in my old RM1X, brought it back to perfect working order, and just now, adapted a truly amazing mod to the failed fluorescent backlight display on a supposedly "new" Korg M3 display which failed before a year was up ...

Re: Alesis Ion volume pot replacement

Yes... can see clearly now the rain is gone. I can see all obstacles in my way. It's a bright and sunny day-but not here!
Seriously though, my only regret that for all this, i could not find the original volume pot with the more solid construction, but I didn't scour through the major electrical ...

Re: Alesis Ion volume pot replacement

Here is one shot inside the faulty volume pot-I saw how easy it would be for this to fail over time-not so much from these contacts, but there are carbon traces fixed to the separate IC board, and I am guessing that these were worn, and as i originally decided, the metal case of the pot which was ...

Re: Alesis Ion volume pot replacement

Here are a few, there is another website that shows pictures for disassembling the entire ION, not too difficult. soldering the voltage pot needs some skill, and the IC board needs to be removed, gave me a chance to clean the knobs and pots a bit. Notice the 6 pins are not for the volume pot, these ...

Alesis Ion volume pot replacement

Was a challenging project, as this volume pot has 6 very thin soldering arms close together, the IC board traces are also very thin and fragile. I could not find the original design volume pot, which was a metal canister design with a brass mounting sleeve. The only replacement I could find-which ...

ketron Fusion

I just came a cross a rather alarming post.....in the Yamaha Arrangers forum, i thought i would be reading something new about the...Alesis Fusion. this just appeared at 2025 NAMM. Apparently Ketron beat them to the punch, but took them 20 years to do it, if they in fact have. Sure doesn't look much ...

Re: Fusion and midi implementation-again

Yes, KPR (Klaus correct?) has been very helpful right here, has helped me understand many aspects of the Fusion that would have been very difficult or impossible for me to figure out myself. and Jesse-is i possible the firmware is part of the entire OS update file, or one of the earlier? I see that ...

Re: Fusion and midi implementation-again

Brainfart-over on the Casio music forum-there is a very clever programmer who has created, using Python, some very useful software for a few of the Casio keyboards that have limited programability-he managed to create software control and editing that these Casios do not have. If I send him a list ...

Re: Hidden sounds beyond P8?

I never wrapped my head around the alliance software, it looks like a pretty powerful development, might bear a second look, I have the parts of it in stalled here on my laptops. Normally what I have been doing-in order to preserve all the folder, file structures on what I already have-which is huge ...

Joe Zawinul signature sounds

Going backwards to go forwards. Joe Zawinul-I was (and am) a big fan of this synth/music pioneer, for many reasons. In trying to emulate his signature Fender Rhodes heavily phased sound, such as on "The Juggler" from the Heavy Weather album and many others, haven't gotten there. I know he used a ...

Re: Factory multi samples stored on the Harddrive

?? Jesse sounds right, the file he mentions can be installed like any other add-in file (Hollow sun packs, V-stream, etc.) and will easily fit onto the internal hard drive as will thousands of addtional sounds. I know, I've done this and have bank 5 installed. As far as external drives-there is no ...

Odd observation about the LCD screen

After struggling with a replacement mainboard for one of my Fusion 8HD's, which ended up having the "Update serial number" warning screen, which I had never been able to fix, even with help here and extensive inquiries the last few years-this board came from InMusic-I managed thanks to Keyboard ...

Alesis Fusion firmware developer-I think

Not sure if I should be posting this-it is common knowledge, but I don't want to step on professional toes, however, in the huge quest to...possibly...open the Alesis Fusion firmware for...possibly....updating the few features that were left languishing...

Re: Factory multi samples stored on the Harddrive

Something is wrong, shouldn't be anything missing, the multisamples exist with the OS upgrade. I upgraded both my 8HD's from OS 1.20, everything came through. Could there be an error with the original older OS that is causing this problem although each succeeding OS should overwrite the previous as ...
